ROANE RAPS

“Hey Blake, where you at?”

Never a good call when you get it from Mitch, CEO of TRND MUSIC.

“Ahhhhh I’m on my way to the studio. Why?'“

“You got a session with Chandler at 4. It’s 4:30”

Damn. Totally forgot. That doesn’t happen often, but eeeevery once in a while I miss a calendar invite.

As I stumbled into our studio, located just on the outskirts of West Fort Worth, I still was confused about who exactly “Chandler” was. The 6’1 individual in front of me, was very understanding of me being late. Very unlike most rappers, not because of his understanding, but because he was actually on time. (Rappers are notorious for being “fashionably late”).

About 10 minutes into our session, I realized who Chandler was. Chandler Roane, or just “Roane”  and I had talked about producing, mixing, and mastering over the last two weeks, and I had thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. He came in with tracks that exhibited production reminiscent of a more seasoned producer. It actually surprised me.

Coming in at just over 12,000 monthly listeners, Roane has explored many different genres of hip-hop. But something that always comes through is his meaningful and heartfelt lyrics. His lyricism lacks a certain cliché verbiage that most hip hop artists are wrought with. A little more reminiscent of NF’s early “Therapy Sessions”.  His melodies range from soothing pop melodies, to very modern Juice WRLD hooks.  Again, what remains consistent, are the confidently delivered bars in his all his verses.

Roane and I met in September of 2020 for one of our first planning meetings, we discussed the direction of his future sound. After shooting a couple of ideas back and forth, we decided to keep up with the versatility he had already developed and work with more artists, until we can come up with a clear niche.

I asked Roane, why do you make music, he left me with this:

“Honestly I like the platform of hip hop because I think that, as far as genres go, it’s the most that’s heavily affected by lyricism. Recording artists have a massive amount of influence in society, and I want to be somebody who injects knowledge and positivity into the lives of as many people as I can. Rapping allows me to do both of those things, while also making music that is super entertaining to listen to. Plus you don’t need to be able to sing at a super high level in order to rap well.”

Looking forward to working with you more brother!
